Things to know about Laptops
- We do not build laptops, they are built by huge manufacturers mostly in Taiwan, some in China
- Almost every laptop comes with only a 1-year warranty, your warranty is with the manufacturer and can be extended at a cost set by the manufacturer
- We can assist you with warranty work (recovering data before sending the unit back) but in almost all cases of hardware defect, the machine has to be shipped out for repair
- Laptops are more easily damaged than desktops due to their portable nature and because the units are so compact they are susceptible to heat build-up
- A 2.0ghz laptop is not as fast as a 2.0ghz desktop because the processors are not the same
- Laptop hard drives are slower than desktop hard drives which means slower loading of programs or larger amounts of data. Upgraded drives are available at an extra cost
- Laptops cannot be upgraded as easily as desktops and less components can be upgraded. Laptop upgrades always cost more than a comparible desktop upgrade.
