Technical Services

What brands of computers do you sell?

All of our desktop systems are custom built to our customers needs and/or specifications. Laptops are generally Acer or LG but we can get just about any brand you desire.

Can I buy parts and install them myself?

Yes you can. People buying parts will be charged the cost of the parts plus $20 for delivery.

If I order a laptop, how long does it take to get it?

Typical delivery times are 2 business days sometimes less, sometimes more. All laptops are tested before being delivered and have all demo/trialware removed and Windows optimized for speed.

What is the difference between Windows Vista and Windows XP?

Not much. Microsoft made a huge mistake with Vista in that they have upgraded the look of it, and a few small changes to the actual core of the operating system at a cost of huge amounts of diskspace, memory and processing power requirements. Many users will find that Windows XP will run twice as fast as Windows Vista on the same hardware. We do not recommend Windows Vista to any businesses because of compatability issues with software and the costs of hardware associated with this operating system. Be aware that new versions of any software have bugs (that may cause the program to crash). Time will tell if Microsoft has failed or succeeded with the Vista operating system.

The datacenter features high level security, raised flooring, climate-control, UPS power supply, fire suppression system, as well as multiple redundant connections to major backbones such as Savvis, NLayer, Telia, NYIIX, AboveNet. Every location is also equipped with backup batteries and diesel generators, Cisco routers and switches; and is staffed 24x7 by qualified system administrators and engineers. The network runs on our own dark fiber ring connecting our two redundant pops in 111th NYC and 165 Halsey (Equinix) NJ. Each fiber leg is capable of handling our entire networks traffic in case of a failure. Each leg can upgraded to provide transport capacities up to 320Gbps totaling 640Gbps of available transport capacity.

What kind of hardware is the server running?

The server is running four Intel Xeon 2.8ghz CPU's with 4GB of ECC RAM. All hard drives are SCSI with around 1TB of data currently connected. Backup's are performed real-time via RAID and nightly backups are sent to a local SAN (Storage Area Network). Website owners can also manually backup their data to their own computer.
